QCQ testing in the laboratory is used to quantify coating degradation under accelerated exposure, to quantitatively resolve between paints of various qualities or to quantitatively rate application practices. The measurement is made on samples briefly removed from the accelerated exposure area for the purpose of measurement. The test complies with HRN EN ISO 16773 with an alternative cell set-up envisaged by the standard.
QCQ inspection is used to detect early signs of coating degradation and to indicate critical coating quality areas with potentially limited coating durability. It can be used to evaluate the serviceability and to assist in the decision to renew, repair or extend the life of the coating system. It is also suitable for newly applied systems to confirm coating quality and standard of application practice.
